"I have known Sarah since high school when we were classmates and fast pitch softball teammates. After reconnecting at a high school reunion, and learning she was a personal trainer, I decided it was time for me to make a change. I had just had my first child and was weighing in at my heaviest at 245 lbs. After the reunion I decided I would eventually see Sarah as a trainer but not until I could lose some weight on my own and commit myself to a change. I changed everything about my diet. I cut portion sizes in half. I Drank more water. I ate more fruits and vegetables. I cut out unnecessary condiments. I cut out added stuff to my coffee. I started moving more. I did not necessarily start doing any form of exercise, I just made a conscious decision to move more. I researched everything I could about calories in and calories out. I lost 90 lbs in one year. Towards the end of that weight loss I started seeing Sarah. I wanted to fill out my new body with strong muscles. I was a high school and college athlete and wasn't afraid of working hard and I was excited to get started. something that was holding me back for a long time was my severe chronic back pain due to 5 herniated discs. Strengthening the muscles around the spine so that the spine didn't have to work so hard. I knew that muscle building had to be my goal and I knew just who to call!
When I signed up with Sarah I was so excited. She is knowledgeable, approachable and easy going. I wanted someone who would push me hard and teach me the tools I needed to eventually be able to do this fitness thing on my own. I knew I had the right person from session one. I made her aware of my "limitations" due to my back pain and old softball injuries. She knew exactly what to do and what not to do which was just what I needed. I didn't want to start this fitness, muscle building on my own for fear of injuring myself further.
I started to see changes in my body immediately. I loved what I saw and started realizing I had a passion for building muscle. It made me feel strong! Not only physically but mentally. I saw her for a few months and when we both decided I was ready to be on my own my family joined the local YMCA. I dedicated myself to lifting weights 3 times a week Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and once on the weekend if I could squeeze it in. I kept it up for 2 years and enjoyed all of it. Fitness has empowered me in every aspect of my life and along with my ambition I have Sarah to thank for helping me push myself farther and farther to reach my goals.
When I became pregnant with my second daughter I had motivation and confidence to continue with my workouts through the pregnancy thanks to Sarah. I was very ill and unfortunately was unable to workout as much as I had wanted to. My daughter is now 11 months old and I have been seeing Sarah again for the past several months, once a week while continuing at the YMCA. With my second pregnancy I gained back some weight but I have the confidence and know how to get back to my lean, muscular 173 lbs. Since seeing her I have increased my core strength. I am currently 180 lbs and will continue to lose fat and gain muscle. For me it is not about the number, it is how I feel. I feel empowered by Sarah and every bit of knowledge she has given me along the way!!"
